Avoid Surgery in Many Cases
At Life in Motion Physical Therapy, we help you avoid surgery in many cases by offering non-invasive treatments that address the underlying issues, promote healing, and restore function, often reducing the need for surgical intervention.

Help Center
For your convenience, we've put together a list of some of the most common questions we are asked and provided the answers.
-
Do I need a prescription for Physical Therapy? No, in New Jersey, you don't need a prescription to see a physical therapist. New Jersey allows direct access to physical therapy, meaning you can start treatment without a doctor's referral. You also have the freedom to choose where you receive physical therapy. If you're dealing with pain, stiffness, weakness, or limited movement, we may be able to help! While we prefer to work closely with all your healthcare providers for the best care, we will always coordinate and share your treatment plan with them, with your consent. Some insurance companies might require a prescription for coverage, and we're happy to help you get one from your doctor or healthcare provider if needed.
-
How much are your fees and do you take insurance? We accept Medicare Part B as In Network providers and most major medical insurance plans. However, we are Out of Network for most insurers to provide more personalized care with fewer patients. This usually results in fewer visits and lower overall costs compared to traditional clinics. We are happy to help you understand your insurance benefits and assist with coordination.
-
What happens during my first visit?Initial evaluations and treatments usually last 60 minutes. After you fill out necessary forms, the therapist will assess your condition, create a diagnosis, and develop a personalized treatment plan. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the area being treated. Your goals are an important part of your treatment plan. The plan is created by your Doctor of Physical Therapy to address pain and movement issues and improve your long-term quality of life. This includes how often you'll see the therapist, how long you will need therapy, at-home exercises, patient education, and both short-term and long-term goals. Your therapist, doctor, and you will work together to create this plan.
-
How long is a typical Physical Therapy session? Who will work with me?Typical physical therapy sessions last about 45 minutes, but this may vary depending on your endurance and tolerance for exercise. At our practice, only fully licensed and qualified physical therapists and assistants will work directly with you. We do not employ aides or technicians to provide patient care. In fact, New Jersey law requires that only licensed PTs or PTAs provide care, so we encourage you to confirm that any clinic you visit follows this regulation.
